This site is dedicated to all of us regular gym goers who constantly have to work around so called “personal trainers (PT’s)”. My issue with PT’s is twofold. First most of them are not qualified to train anyone in the mechanics of an exercise regimen. Most are gym rats who like being in the gym and are looking for a free membership. Just because some 250lb guy can squat 500 lbs. does not make him the best candidate to advise the average 185 lb male or 115 lb female on what exercises to do and at what frequency. If you really want to know what exercises work (regardless of your objectives) pick up a good book or magazine. I recommend some in this blog. Secondly, they are a few good personal trainers out there. But believe me they are few and far between. My other beef with PT’s is the number of machines they take up at any given time. If you are a personal trainer and you find yourself training 3 or more people at a given time then you need your own gym. And no it is not that expensive. You can rent a little retail store front buy some second hand gym equipment and your in business. The rest of us working stiffs will be glad to throw you a “Get the Hell out of our Gym” party send off. If your client list mandates you train 3 or more people at any given time then given what you are charging these poor saps you can afford your own space. Please feel free to use this blog to voice your grips about PT’s. Tell us your horror stories of the local high school football star tuned body builder who sucks up two leg press machines and a couple of squat racks every Monday evening when you want to work out. You know the idiot I’m talking about.
